"Dear Palace,
On behalf of everyone here at Primrose I would like to convey our gratitude for your recent donation of £150 that has been raised via the Bel Canto singers concert. As a hospice we provide free, expert care and support to adults living with life limiting illnesses and their families. We endeavor to improve patients' quality of life and wellbeing, helping each individual live as fully as they can to the end of their lives, however long that may be. Every year we have to raise £1.75m in order to run our services. It's because you care, that we can.
All the best,
Fundraising Manager."

"Hi Dave
'I'm sure you've heard what a big success the show was on Saturday and just wanted to say thank you for organising it all. We had a wonderful time and were so well looked after by everybody involved. Carl was great as was the sound & lighting engineer and the lady backstage on runner duties - they were all really professional and helpful and did their jobs brilliantly so if you are able to pass on my thanks to them all I would be grateful. If only every performance we do could be the same! So sorry you had to miss it and I hope we raised lots of money for our charities.
Best wishes and thanks again."

"After a hectic UK tour and taking a little time to get over the jet/boat lag of getting back to the west of Ireland.
I am sending this email to say a HUGE THANK YOU from all the technical crew, stage crew, actors and support crew to all in Redditch. To each and everyone that we had the pleasure of meeting and working with could not have been more helpful. It would be unfair to mention individuals, as all we met were so courteous and nothing was a problem. We were made to feel so welcome. It was great to work with such professional and friendly people.
Again all we can say is THANK YOU." - From all on Paddy the Show
"I would like to extend my congratulations for a really slick, well-directed, well-performed, teched, written pantomime. I thought that all of the performances were outstanding. The story-telling was clear and all of the children really enjoyed themselves. Well done and thank you all for an enjoyable afternoon." - Charlie Woollhead, Head of Drama, Bromsgrove Prep School

“Thank you for giving me the amazing opportunity to work behind the curtain with some fantastic people. My work experience has helped me understand what other actors don’t see, for example actors don’t see what happens before a show they just turn up to do their job and leave again, they don’t see what happens before and after. I particularly enjoyed doing and learning about the lighting on the Tuesday with Paul. I enjoyed this because it was an amazing experience and I learned a lot of things about the light desk. The placement really helped me appreciate how much the crew do for the shows and I will take that into consideration when doing shows at the Palace and any other company. Please thank Carl, Paul and Cliff for an amazing week that I really enjoyed and hopefully I will be a volunteer in the near future. Finally thank you Tim for giving me the opportunity to have a brilliant week." – Tom Hulme (Work Experience from RSA Academy – Arrow Vale)

“On behalf of all at ABOS, I would like to thank you and your team so much for all that they did to help to make our production of ‘Iolanthe’ a success. The theatre stage crew made our ‘get in’ so easy with their expertise, and through the technical rehearsal and their understanding of the requirements of Steve Skinner our Producer, they made our show come to life. Those new wonderful lighting effects you have talked about in the Theatre meetings really ‘made’ our opening number. What a difference – definitely well worth the expenditure! From lighting through to sound, from the use of the trap door to smoke effects we thank everyone for their help. Also please pass on our sincere thanks to Owen and his bar volunteers. It is lovely to be able to dash from backstage and meet our friends in the bar afterwards to hear their comments, and of course many like to relax after sometimes a difficult journey to the theatre, in the bar beforehand. Naturally our thanks also go to the box office staff and to Paul Hughes for his work with our publicity. So, once again my sincere thanks to all who helped to make our show so enjoyable.” – Mrs A Medway (Honorary Secretary of Astwood Bank Operatic Society)

“Thanks once again for hosting my 60th party in ‘the Room Upstairs’ last Saturday. The party was a great success and my guests seemed to enjoy the band…and the food. Steph and I have been very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of you and your staff. I know that everyone at the Palace Theatre did their utmost to help me with the arrangements for my party and this certainly contributed in a large way to its success. In particular I would like to thank the bar staff for their friendly service; also a big thanks to Max for the excellent work he did on the sound. Also thanks to you Tim for your enthusiasm in assisting with fulfilling my somewhat unusual idea for a party. I have never organised a concert/party before but I would certainly recommend the idea to others – mind you I was fortunate that the band I booked, Tír na nÓg, and yourselves made the process as painless as possible. We intend writing to the Redditch Advertiser to praise and recommend you and would be happy to recommend you to other budding impresarios that may happen along!” – Nick and Stephanie Forward

“On behalf of my daughter Connie Boo, I would like to thank you all for your work and help this year in the production at Redditch Palace Theatre. From my own perspective I would like to congratulate you on an extremely professional production. You really set the bar at a new level this year. Connie Boo enjoyed every moment she was involved in and can only benefit from experiencing a more professional working environment like this. I was really impressed. She is very keen to attend the auditions for the 2014 production and is under no illusions that she will have to continue to step up a level this year in her dancing to be in with a chance and also in her schooling so that we will let her attend the auditions. I’m hoping the carrot and stick approach works. Once again, many thanks for the opportunity you have given her.” – Gez and Lara McCoy

I came to see the pantomime with two small children (one is only 20 months) and the staff were so lovely and friendly. They immediately reassured me that if the little one was struggling to sit still there were free seats upstairs and we wouldn’t have to miss anything. So, thank you for being so helpful.” – Rhiannon

“I would just like to thank the cast of Aladdin for their excellent performance and for the staff for, as always, being very kind and helpful. I visit the panto annually with Wootton Wawen Primary School and felt that this performance was the best I had seen by far. Although I was sat near the front with some rather scared 5year olds, I think I can safely say that the children felt the same way as I did and even the scared ones enjoyed most of it. I would also like to say a big thank you to Mr Carty for smiling at me during the show. I mean Wow ‘Tucker Jenkins’ smiling at me! On that note I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a peaceful and happy New Year.” – Sarah-Jane

This experience could not have taken place without the professionalism and support from you and your team. Thank you for your ongoing support in arranging a well-run and smooth operation. A big thank you to Carl and technical, who worked so well with our Teacher Directors and enabled them to bring their productions to life with professional use of sound and lighting. “Being an amateur operatic society, with sometimes more optimism and enthusiasm than technical know how, it is priceless for us to have such helpful expert advice readily to hand and that we had in spades from yourself and the Palace Technical Team. Sound/amplification is particularly crucial for us and Rob was excellent at interpreting our requirements and then assisting us to improve further. From first contact, he demonstrated first-rate interpersonal skills and always went further than the minimum support he might have provided. He had inputs in other areas – not least the lighting of the set, and offered much helpful advice there too. We have always had an excellent level of understanding, support and assistance since you’ve been at the theatre Tim; and we get the same helpful approach from Carl, Paul, etc. and on this occasion, from Rob” – Steve

The expertise of tech Theatre stage staff makes all the difference. The fantastic lighting effects and the excellent work by Robert with the sound meant that the audience could see the full effect of the set with its black and white theme and could clearly both hear singing and dialogue. Everyone is always so willing to assist whatever the problem, and we are extremely grateful. Can I just say what a tremendous success the Worcestershire Youth Music Redditch Area Music Centre was on Mon. evening at the Palace Theatre. The Palace was packed to capacity with an enthusiastic audience and approximately 200 children (maybe more I didn’t count) performed on a wide range of instruments and sang. A number of people said that they didn’t realise that so many children in Redditch learnt musical instruments. Thanks to the Palace Theatre staff for their patience with so many children and staff and to your initiative for reducing the theatre hire rate on a Mon. which made the concert possible and affordable. I am sure that we will do it again. H. Tyrrell

On behalf of Derek Acorah, his crew and Fan Club, I would like to thank you and your fine team for an excellent evening all round on Friday 29th June. Everything felt really good and Derek has asked me to pass on to you his thanks for looking after him so well. The show went without incident and was enjoyed by everyone in attendance. The perfect combination of a first class host, a fine venue with attentive, helpful and professional staff and a receptive audience. All productions should be that way. The Palace has always been a favourite of ours with the old and the new blending perfectly. The auditorium still retains its 100 year old charm and with modern sound, lighting it has a perfect working environment. I noted some changes in the foyer since when we were last there, one in particular being the show monitors, which are an excellent idea. You can really see how much thought, detail and foresight has been spent on the venue. On a personal note, could I mention how gracious Owen was to my requests and needs who went out of his way to look after us. Can I also highlight Annie in the Bar who handled my drinks tab in her unique and friendly manner. In fact everyone I came into contact with on the evening offered a smile which is so refreshing and I must say, unusual compared to the other UK theatres we frequent. It is clear to see that everyone at The Redditch Palace Theatre is happy working there and I suggest that stems from the top. Having met and spoke with you on several occasions, I feel your enthusiasm and sense how proud you are to be the Theatre Manager and so you should be. I look forward to returning to the Palace in a few weeks time with The Legends of Swing show, whereby I’m sure we will enjoy it as much as Friday.

The cast and crew of ‘A midsummer Night’s Dream’ would like to thank you for our tour of the Palace Theatre, Redditch that you conducted on Friday. All of the pupils and staff involved had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and learnt much from the visit. A particular highlight being the opportunity for some of the cast to spend half an hour on the stage. They fund it rather exciting to be able to use a theatre stage of that size. Many thanks for your help with this and I look forward to seeing you in the future. Mrs G

“The Palace Theatre in Redditch was an outstanding venue for our event. We were made to feel welcome, offered a high level of professional support throughout the day, and everything we requested appeared as if by magic. It was a delight to see our one hundred and fifty students given free access to all parts of the building enabling them to explore such a rich cultural space lovingly restored and maintained. We will definitely be returning next year.” – Panasonic

“Being a firm believer in ‘praise where it is due’, I thought I’d just say that I thought the sound quality for Astwood Bank’s ‘Pirates’ was generally excellent.” – Mr Jay

”Working at the Theatre, as a volunteer, has been a most enjoyable experience, in so many ways. The theatre itself is a delightful place, with a terrific atmosphere hosting a good mix of all kinds of shows. Everyone involved, either employed or as volunteers, are so committed to the future of this establishment, that we all find ourselves promoting it to anyone who will listen. We absolutely love every minute of our time spent there, it is a wonderful experience. Good shows, good ambiance, wonderful building, with many dedicated volunteers, what more could a town ask for. May it long continue. ” – Ms T

“Theatre nowadays has changed its 24/7 and has to be controlled and run so at the Palace the small dedicated full time staff are supported by a wonderful array of volunteers who without them the theatre may not be able to remain open. When I came to the Palace the atmosphere the staff and the volunteers were wonderful and its the people that make this theatre what it is today a thriving friendly warm welcoming venue..patrons and artistes all enjoy coming here and they cannot all be wrong…Therefore I hope I can continue to be a volunteer at the Palace for many years to come..” – Mr F

“Working at the Palace Theatre has always been a real pleasure. The theatre is a gem and I have never worked with such a professional and dedicated team. The full time staff and Technical Volunteers are more like a family and there is a real pride amongst us that we bring a high level of professionalism to the work we do. This is frequently commented upon by performers who come here – they feel welcome and valued and the crew are always willing to go that extra mile to ensure their experience here is a good one. I can honestly say that I feel at home here and get a great deal of fulfilment in whatever role I am working in. Each volunteer brings their own specialism and skills and under the management of Tim Mackrill, this has developed into a seriously efficient and well oiled team! We all work with and for each other and there is a genuine sharing of skills and ideas with everyone feeling valued and appreciated. In addition, Tim is very keen to ensure that there is ample opportunity for individuals to be given the chance to develop their skills and enhance their knowledge.” – Mr W

“Can I thank the Volunteers for their excellent customer service. I attended the ‘Chris and Pui show’ yesterday, and I sat in the Wheelchair box, with my son, who is Autistic. The gentleman volunteer couldn’t have been more helpful, sadly I didn’t get his name. We also attended ‘Snow White’ in December and Wendy couldn’t have been more helpful. We have only recently ‘found’ the Palace Theatre but will be making up for lost time!! Once again thank you for making my son’s first Theatrical experiences magical ones.” – Mr F

“Could you please pass on to the Theatre Staff, mine and Alcester Musical Theatre Society’s thanks for the support that was given to us all by your team, especially yourself, Paul and Carl. As always you make us feel that we are the most important people in the world when it is our show week and you and your staff are always so welcoming and helpful and are always ready to guide us through problems. We had a great week, with lots of laughs along the way. Can you also thank Jamie for all his hard work on the sound board – he did a really good job and I am sure he will be a real asset for you when you begin the Panto. We really couldn’t think of a better venue than the Palace Theatre to put on our shows, it is a wonderful building and there is no where locally that can match the atmosphere of the Palace theatre. It is important that we never loose what we have in this venue because it can never be replicated again and it is after all part of the heritage of Redditch.” – Mr H

“The Gang at Redditch, under the stage direction of Tim Mackrill, remind me of the days when lots of theatres produced their own pantos. They want theirs to be the best and Tim’s lot do their darndest to make it so” Roy Hudd.
I just wanted to email and say thank you for showing our Year 7 children around the theatre last week as part of their work on future career options. The children really enjoyed their visit and learned a lot about the behind the scenes work that so many people don’t see when they visit the theatre for shows.
