Redditch Operatic Society is thrilled to present an enchanting production of the classic musical, My Fair Lady.
Based on George Bernad Shaw’s original play Pygmalion, the story follows Eliza Doolittle, a poor flower girl in London, who is taken under the wing of arrogant phonetics professor Henry Higgins as part of a bet. He wagers that he can transform her into a refined lady by teaching her to speak ‘proper’ English.
Eliza undergoes rigorous lessons, learning new speech and manners as she goes, and successfully passes as a high-class lady at a society event. However, her transformation challenges both her and Higgins, leading to questions of identity, class and relationships as she blossoms into an independent woman.
My Fair Lady is one of the most celebrated and timeless musicals ever, and includes such classics as Wouldn’t It Be Loverly, I Could Have Danced All Night and Get Me To The Church On Time. Don’t miss this very special version of this beloved show.
