Made In Dagenham

Made In Dagenham follows the worker’s story in a witty and emotional script with contrasting lively and thoughtful musical numbers

In 1968 just under 200 female workers walked out of the Dagenham Ford Motor Company factory protesting about their unskilled worker grading. Men, who did the same level of work, were placed in a semi-skilled grade. The women wanted recognition for their work. This protest led to the shutdown of the whole plant, meetings with then Secretary of State for Employment, Barbara Castle and eventually, the introduction of the UK’s Equal Pay Act.

Made In Dagenham follows the worker’s story in a witty and emotional script with contrasting lively and thoughtful musical numbers culminating in a feel good, uplifting finale.  Come and follow this true story and meet the characters involved, including Barbara Castle, then Prime Minister Harold Wilson and, of course, the amazing group of ladies and their menfolk.
