A brilliant gig by one of the best folk bands on the circuit
When Red Shoes last played the Room Upstairs in 2016, Ross Crawford, Editor, Redditch Standard wrote: "A brilliant gig by one of the best folk bands on the circuit."
And Red Shoes are exactly that!
With chiming acoustic guitars, soaring vocals and a superb catalogue of original songs, which has seen them become a firm favourite on the folk scene. The song writing of Carolyn and Mark Evans lies at the heart of their success, with tracks covered by the legendary Fairport Convention and Emmylou Harris. Recently commissioned by Worcester Council to write two songs about the nostalgic recollections of local townsfolk in both Stourport and Droitwich, for the “Lending An Ear” project, the songs have become favourites at The Hive in Worcester.
With two critically acclaimed albums to their name, which have included such folk luminaries as Dave Pegg, Ric Sanders & Dave Swarbrick, they are currently recording their third album due for a May 2017 release.
The band has shared stages with and supported amongst others: The Strawbs; Fotheringay; Iain Matthews; Pentangle and Show of Hands.
