The UK National Drum Fair, will be inviting some of the UK's top drumming talent to perform at The Palace Studio, Palace Theatre, Redditch.
The UK National Drum Fair and Redditch Palace Theatre are proud to announce an exciting new drumming event.
Started in May 2017 a monthly drum clinic, hosted by Matt Green from the UK National Drum Fair, will be inviting some of the UK's top drumming talent to perform at The Studio, Palace Theatre, Redditch.
There will also be a chance of a deserving local player every month to join the clinic via an open audition held a few weeks before. Pete Lockett’s clinic / performance is an incredibly dynamic, entertaining and informative showcase of drumming and percussion from every part of the globe. The exploration of world rhythms is complemented by subtle sound design, electronics and captivating visuals. The combination of sound textures, powerful pulsing grooves and virtuosic solos has captivated & entertained audiences worldwide & reflects Pete’s work with artists such as Björk, Peter Gabriel, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Robert Plant, Dido, Bill Bruford, Jeff Beck, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Jasraj, The Verve, Texas, Trans-Global Underground, Nelly Furtado, Lee Scratch Perry, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, Roopkumar Rathod, Niladri Kumar, Primal Scream, Damien Rice, Dave Weckl, Thomas Lang, Jarvis Cocker, Craig Armstrong, Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden), U Shrinivas, Ronan Keating, Vanessa-Mae, Errol Brown, Rory Gallagher, Pet Shop Boys, Hari Haran, Kodo, Amy Winehouse, Mel C, A R Rahman, Sinead O'Conner and many more! The relationship between drum set and percussion is explored in depth with a focus on odd time signatures, solo and theme development, rhythmic modulations, sticking ideas and orchestration of Indian rhythms and percussion ideas on drum set and percussion.

Petes book, ‘Indian rhythms for the drum set’ (Hudson) was book of the year 2008 in the Dutch music press. He also released a best selling percussion app for iDevices. DrumJam was released in 2012. He also released his first full-length novel ‘A Survivor’s Guide To Eternity’ in 2014.

Matt Green is one of the UK's most versatile percussionists. He has emerged himself in all aspects of percussion and plays all range of music, from Baroque to Rock. Matthew often performs as a guest soloist with different groups, premier Big Bands and Jazz ensembles in and around the Midlands/London and in the studio recording for rock/pop artists. Matthew’s passion for world music which has lead him to work with such artists as Ravi Shankar, collaborating between Eastern and Western musicians, UK’s leading nasheed group SHAAM and on the west coast of Ireland's folk scene. Matt's very popular workshops/clinics are both educational and inspiring.
